Provides consultation, evaluation and treatment for clients and their families to promote the maximum physical, sensory and developmental abilities and to fulfill the mission and vision of Abilities First. Serves as a supportive resource to families.
About Abilities First:
Abilities First is a community-based agency with 3 departments; the therapy department, Autism Learning Center (ALC), and Early Childhood Learning Center(ECLC). The therapy department consists of a multi-disciplinary team of occupational therapists, physical therapists, and speech language pathologists. At Abilities First, we provide therapy at our outpatient clinic as well as school-based therapy to our in-house students in the ALC.
Responsibilities:
- Provides occupational therapy to clients through ongoing assessment, planning and implementation of client’s plan of treatment.
- Facilitates and maintains an open communication network with the Director of Therapies, all team members, staff, families, clients, physicians and/or community agencies related to therapy services and clients’ needs.
- Completes paperwork regarding clients and services provided in a timely manner, including evaluations, plan of treatment, progress notes and other correspondence necessary.
- Ensures maintenance and upkeep of the department and equipment.
- Follows billing procedures as it pertains to reimbursement for services.
- Provides quality student/volunteer experiences and opportunities while maintaining the highest standards of treatment.
- Attends inservices and seminars for professional growth and presents the information as appropriate and needed for professional licensure.
- Develops and maintains effective relationships with all stakeholders, focusing on exceeding customer expectations of the services provided.
- Leads and/or participates in meetings, committees and agency events to promote continuous improvement and Abilities First community image.
- Coordinates and provides contract therapy services as needed.
- Performs all other duties deemed necessary by the Director of Therapies.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s/Master’s/Doctoral degree in Occupational Therapy from a university accredited by the American Occupational Therapy Association.
- NBCOT Certified Occupational Therapist
- Active Ohio Occupational Therapy License
- CPR/First Aid certification preferred (in-house training available)
- Pediatric experience is highly preferred
- Experience working with children with ASD is highly preferred.
